More than Music
Jeff Kerestes is a lifelong advocate for the arts, a musician, producer, composer, educator, and business owner whose work spans Broadway stages, recording studios, classrooms, and business ventures. Whether collaborating with an established artist, helping a student play their first song, or building a business from an idea, he brings the same curiosity, care, and enthusiasm for creating something meaningful.
An upright and electric bassist who also performs on drums, guitar, piano, and keyboards, Jeff has performed in Broadway productions including Hamilton, Waitress, Dear Evan Hansen, and Kinky Boots, recorded on Grammy Award-winning records, toured internationally, and performed with the Chelsea Symphony. His experience across jazz, bluegrass, classical music, and musical theater has shaped a versatile approach grounded in listening and serving the music.
Jeff holds a degree in Jazz Performance from Arizona State University and has received multiple musicianship awards from Berklee College of Music. His artist endorsements have included Fender, Moog, Jim Dunlop/MXR, TC Electronic, Spectraflex Cables, and Mono Cases.
Education has always been central to Jeff’s work. With more than 20,000 hours of private teaching experience, he has helped musicians of all levels develop their skills and find their own musical voice. In 2023, he founded The Ukulele Project to share the joy of music with the next generation. Since then, the program has worked with thousands of young musicians, building confidence, creativity, and community through learning, songwriting, and performance.
Jeff’s love of bringing ideas to life has also led him to build several businesses. In 2013, he founded Brooklyn Audio Works, a live sound and equipment rental business whose customers included Lifetime, Uber, Ferrari, the WNBA, the NBA, The New York Times, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The Late Show with David Letterman, Sesame Street, Electric Lady Studios, Studio G, and Jack Antonoff. The business brought together his experience in music, technical knowledge, and commitment to helping events and productions run smoothly.
He also owned Zero Fret, a New York City production company, and even started a custom tap dancing platform business—not kidding, ask him about it. Today, he runs The Ukulele Project and Full Sync LLC, his production and booking business. Across these ventures, Jeff loves imagining what’s possible, figuring out how to make it work, and bringing people together to build it.
Beyond his teaching and performing, Jeff volunteers in schools and serves on the board of the Multnomah Arts Center Association, supporting opportunities for people to experience and participate in the arts. At home in Portland, Oregon, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Dana, their daughter, Alice, and their dog, Rebel. Away from work, he’s happiest outdoors—mountain biking, snowboarding, or surfing.
